Push-button and trip-time testing of safety switches — documented and compliant.
A safety switch that looks fine on the board can still fail to trip. The push-button proves the mechanism moves; only a trip-time test proves it will actually disconnect fast enough to protect someone.

Frequently asked questions
Is pressing the test button enough?
No. The push-button confirms the mechanism operates, but not that the device disconnects within the required time. Only an instrument trip-time test measures that, and it is the measurement that goes on the record.
Will testing interrupt the site?
Testing an RCD trips the circuits it protects, so it is brief but not invisible. We schedule around trading hours and coordinate any circuits that cannot be interrupted without notice.
Do you test both switchboard and portable RCDs?
Yes — fixed RCDs at the board and portable RCDs in service, each to the interval appropriate to how and where it is used.
