Emergency & Exit Lighting

Complete testing of emergency and exit lighting to AS/NZS 2293.2.

Emergency and exit lighting is the one system on site that has to work on the worst day it will ever have — and the only way to know it will is to run it flat and watch.

AIF carries out six-monthly emergency and exit lighting testing to AS/NZS 2293.2 across Melbourne, including the full 90-minute discharge test, with the logbook maintained on site.

What's included

Emergency & Exit Lighting services we provide

90-Minute Discharge Test

Every fitting run on battery for the full rated duration — the test that finds the batteries that hold charge for ten minutes and then die.

Fitting-By-Fitting Inspection

Lamp condition, lens clarity, mounting and correct exit-sign orientation checked at each fitting, not sampled.

Logbook Maintenance

The on-site logbook completed and kept current, which is what a building surveyor or fire safety audit asks to see.

Repairs & Battery Replacement

Failed batteries, lamps and fittings replaced and re-tested so the site leaves the visit compliant, not with a defect list.

Scheduled Six-Monthly Return

The next test booked before we leave, so the six-month interval is never missed by drift.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often is emergency lighting testing required?

AS/NZS 2293.2 sets a six-monthly interval, and the six-monthly test includes the full-duration discharge test. Missing an interval is one of the most common findings in a fire safety audit.

What is the 90-minute discharge test?

Each fitting is switched to battery and left to run for its full rated duration — 90 minutes for most Australian installations. Fittings that fail before the end are identified and their batteries replaced.

Do you maintain the logbook?

Yes. We complete and maintain the on-site logbook at each visit. The logbook is the compliance evidence, so leaving it blank defeats the purpose of the test.
